Drums and Percussion Lessons in Madison
This spring, John completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in Percussion Performance degree from the UW-Madison School of Music, where he studied a huge variety of disciplines. In addition to premiering contemporary chamber works and playing in the symphony orchestra, he was heavily involved in Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music ensembles under the instruction of Jamie Ryan, Anthony DiSanza, and Robert Schoville (and annual residencies with Michael Spiro). Outside of the school of music he immersed in West African music as a member of Wadoma (West African Dance of Madison), and has performed on drum set and percussion with jazz, funk, pop, and rock groups in almost every venue in the down town area. John is enthusiastic about teaching in all the styles mentioned, using virtually any percussion instrument. Check out the photos for some examples of what students are currently studying.
